Mailpiece with Postmark
Send your newsletter through Postmark's broadcast stream.
Mailpiece sends every issue through Postmark's broadcast stream, and its sign-in mail through the transactional one.
With Mailpiece
What you get
- Issues, test issues, welcome emails and confirmations over broadcast SMTP
- A stream-specific SMTP token, so no
X-PM-Message-Streamheader is needed - Each newsletter's own from name, from address and reply-to
- The app's sign-in mail through Postmark's transactional stream
- Prefer its API? Send through a relay.
Set up Postmark
Verify your domain (a DKIM TXT record and a Return-Path CNAME, pm_bounces to pm.mtasv.net) and request account approval. On your server, turn on SMTP, create a Broadcast message stream, and generate an SMTP token on its Settings page: the Access Key is the username, the Secret Key (shown once) the password.
Postmark adds its own unsubscribe link to every broadcast. Ask Postmark support to let you manage unsubscribes yourself: every issue already carries Mailpiece's link and one-click headers, and readers who leave through those are taken off your list.
Set the outgoing mail
On Settings › Outgoing mail, set up an SMTP server: the Server is smtp-broadcasts.postmarkapp.com, the Port 587, the Username the Access Key and the Password the Secret Key. Port 587 uses STARTTLS. Sign-in mail uses the server's API token as both username and password. Every setting is in the mail guide.
# Or from the CLI
mailpiece settings sending smtp update --address smtp-broadcasts.postmarkapp.com --port 587 \
--username ACCESS_KEY --password SECRET_KEY
# The app's sign-in mail, optional
SMTP_ADDRESS=smtp.postmarkapp.com
# Server API token
SMTP_USERNAME=...
# the same token
SMTP_PASSWORD=...
# on your verified domain
MAILER_FROM_ADDRESS=...
Send a test issue
Set a from address on your verified domain in Settings › Sending and send a test issue from any post. It shows in the broadcast stream's activity.
