# Mailpiece with Zed

*A fast editor, and a newsletter it can write to.*

Write your newsletter from Zed: its agent turns your notes into an issue and drafts it in Mailpiece.

## What you get

- Turn these notes into a draft post
- Send me a test of the draft
- Schedule it for Tuesday at 7
- Who subscribed this week?

## Sign in

Build the CLI as the [agents guide](https://mailpiece.dev/docs/agents) shows and make a read and write token under Profile › Personal access tokens, so Zed can draft, test and schedule. The account number is the one in the app's address.

```sh
mailpiece auth login TOKEN --account 834206594 --api-url https://app.example.com
mailpiece doctor
```

## Connect

Run `mailpiece skill install`, which puts the skill in `~/.agents/skills`, where Zed's agent finds it. Then run `zed: open settings file` and add the server under `context_servers`, or use Settings › AI › MCP Servers › Add Server › Add Local Server. A green dot next to it means it's running.

```sh
mailpiece skill install
{
  "context_servers": {
    "mailpiece": {
      "command": "mailpiece",
      "args": ["mcp", "--writes"],
      "env": {}
    }
  }
}
```

## Ask

In the Agent Panel: "Turn these notes into a draft post and send me a test."

Sending to the whole list can't be undone, so read what Zed is about to do before you let it.

## Set it up this afternoon

Install Mailpiece on a server, connect Zed, and send your next issue. [Install Mailpiece](https://mailpiece.dev/docs/install)
